I am willing and able to take on most projects. My engineering and product design career have taught me how to approach new problems and deliver high quality products. And, to be honest, new challenges are what keep me passionate about wood working and design. So, regardless of how crazy the idea, I will never turn down a good conversation on how to make it real.
That being said, I run my shop out of a small workspace so size is limited. Large projects, while not impossible, present logistical challenges and will need to be evaluated on a case by case basis.
I treat the design as a collaborative process.
The first step is to work though your idea, converting it to words and images. From there, a first pass design will be created to use as a jumping off point. The design will be delivered in the form of 3D renderings or 2D drawings with basic dimensions.
The steps that follow are more of a loop, refining and reviewing until you're satisfied your concept has come to life. At that point, you will approve the final design with a signature and date. That signed design package now becomes the working plan for your new custom piece.
I have been in product development for over 10 years. Product design is not only a career, but also a passion of mine. I can lend my experience to help develop your ideas bringing it to life.
If nothing else, I enjoy a good conversation about cool ideas.
You can expect high quality materials coupled with high attention to detail resulting in beautiful pieces.
This is what sets Onyx Grove apart from the rest - beautiful aesthetics with engineered quality.
Onyx Grove Products [even with personalization] can ship within a 2-3days after personalization is approved
With custom projects there are usually two major milestones and associated leadtimes - design lead time and fabrication leadtime.
For the design timing, usually 2-3 weeks gives enough time to work through a few iterations before a final design is approved. Please keep in mind, this is a generalization and some projects may take longer... or shorter.
For fabrication, It is very difficult to give a "average" leadtime due to the varying complexities of projects. Large projects may take months, while smaller projects like bottle openers, flight board, etc. may take only a couple days.
That being said, I will have a decent estimate for leadtime based on our initial conversations.
Most woods can be used as long as their commercially available, limited soft metals like aluminum, copper, and brass and plastics like acrylic.
The order process will start by submitting an Order Inquiry Form with all the applicable details. Please note, submitting the order form does not constitute a contract. Order and payment are initiated upon approval of design.
The lifetime of the product varies depending on the environment it lives in. Wood finishes will fade in the sun or swell and crack if put in a dishwasher. For this reason we cannot guarantee a specific time, but if properly maintained, products should last years of use.
